Thomas E. Rogers – Beloved Husband, Father, Grandfather, Brother
Thomas Engel Rogers, age 55, passed away suddenly in the early hours of October 28, 2024 at Bon Secours Southside Medical Center in Petersburg, Virginia. Tom was born November 5, 1968 in Peoria, Illinois to parents Charles Hart and Mary Joan (Baird) Rogers. He is survived by his wife Jenny Burns-Rogers of Blackstone, Virginia.
Also surviving are two sons, Eric (Kelly) Rogers of Michie, TN and Jesse Rogers of Rowley, IA; two daughters, Faith (Hunter) Tucker of Quasqueton, IA and Olivia (Connor) Tompkins of Blackstone, VA; two stepchildren, David Thompson of Center Point, IA and Jamie Burns of Iowa City, IA; eight grandchildren (with the ninth on the way); three sisters, Joanna Rogers of Dunlap, IL, Ruth Stephenson of Havre, MT and Carla (Tim) Martin of Newburgh, IN; and one brother, Donald (Wendy) Rogers of Cedar Hills, UT.
Tom was preceded in death by his parents Charles and Mary Jo Rogers and son Eathon D. Rogers.
The youngest of five children, he was raised in the family home in the Germantown Hills area, near Peoria, IL. He graduated from Metamora High School and attended Northeast Iowa Community College. He served his country in both the U.S. Marine Corps and the Iowa Army National Guard, retiring in 2019 with the rank of Staff Sergeant (SSG). During his military service, he completed deployments to Egypt and Iraq. He worked for Slaymaker Transport as a long-haul truck driver.
