Obituary for Thomas Edward Jennings
Thomas Edward Jennings was born on December 17, 1950 to the late Christine and Leslie Jennings, Sr., in Nottoway County, Virginia. Wherefore it has pleased our Lord and Savior to call from labor to reward our beloved Thomas Edward Jennings who departed this life on Saturday, December 17, 2022 in Crewe, Virginia. Tom was educated in the Nottoway County Public School System.
Tom proudly worked on the railroad and talked fondly of his experience to anyone who would listen. He would often say, “it wasn’t many of us on the railroad.”
Tom loved to fish and would look forward to each trip out on the water. A few weeks before Tom’s passing, his niece Lulu took him to Wal-Mart to purchase new fishing equipment (rods, tackle and bait) but it was too cold for him to put his new equipment to use.
Tom was preceded in death by his parents Christine and Leslie Jennings Sr., his son, Thomas Lamont Ward (Chuckie), brothers, Henry, Leslie Jr (Boo), Leon, Calvin “Pooker” and his sister Margaret.
Tom leaves to cherish his life and memories, his son Nelson, his nieces Carolyn, Bernice, Beatrice (Lulu), Deborah, Kanitra, LaToya, Malinda, Latarsha, his nephews James Bernard, Marvin (Katherine), Philando, his 19 great nieces and nephews and a host of cousins and friends.
We will think of you when we are all alone for memory is the only friend that grief can call its own. Like ivy on a withered oak, when all other things decay, our love for you will still be green and never fade away.

Funeral: Friday, December 30, 2022 at 1pm at W. E. Hawkes & Son Funeral Home, Blackstone, VA
Interment: Mt. Nebo Baptist Church, Blackstone, VA
