Obituary for Theresa M. Bullard
Ms. Theresa Mahelia Bullard, was born in Miami, Florida to the late Wongee Bernard Bullard, Sr., and Doris Marie Bullard on October 7, 1959. Theresa was preceded in death by her brother, William Bullard. She departed this life on October 28, 2016.
Early in her life the family relocated to Blackstone, VA; this is where Theresa received her education through the Nottoway County Public School system. After high school she attended Southside Skill Center where she received certificates as a clerk typist & stenographer. She also went on to further her education; as she graduated with honors from Southside Community College with an Associate’s degree in Applied Science with a major in Human Services. Also, she received her Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice at the University of Phoenix.
During the years she held numerous jobs which she thoroughly enjoyed. Theresa worked as a waitress at her very first job. She worked as a legal assistant. From there she worked at Cato’s clothing store for numerous years. She also worked as a Court Advocate, Correctional Officer with Nottoway Correctional Center, Administrative Assistant with the James River Correctional Center and as an Assistant Coordinator with Twins Lake. She also drove the bus for Nottoway County for over 10 years. She sincerely enjoyed this job as she loved children; this job offered her the ability to pour out her love into hundreds of children. Lastly, she worked at VCBR in Burkeville, VA as a Market Store Clerk and Administrative Assistant. She often talked about how much she loved the staff there and how they were truly a blessing to work with, especially her lunch crew that consisted of Michelle Herbert, Latrelle Smith, Tina Shelton-Boone, and Sanita Rhodes.
Theresa’s past times included spending time with her children & grandchildren; as there were always plenty of laughs. She enjoyed watching movies and mostly reading the word of God! She received Christ in her life at an early age. She loved to spread the word of God wherever she went….literally anywhere….if someone looked down…..she would stop and tell them how much God loved them and to focus on God! She served as the Youth Church Teacher, The Travel Choir and Praise Team with the Union Baptist Church, in Crewe, VA. She also, served in the Usher Ministry, Deaconess Ministry and Youth Sunday School Teacher with the Fourth Mt. Zion Baptist Church, in Crewe, VA. Additionally, she served at the Vocational Bible School for 2 years at Spring Hill Baptist Church, in Blackstone, VA. In September 2014 she accepted the call to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ. She started Ministers training in August 2016.
Theresa leaves to cherish her memories her daughter’s Ketisha McAdams (Keith- her special son), Deirdre & Bridgette Allen, a daughter in love Charlene Barnes (Lindsay), God Daughter Tequisha Williams, and her companion and pride and joy Angel-her pit bull. Extended kids; Micah & Dedric Allen & Randolph Coleman. Grandchildren; Shaheed, Ke’Asha, Ja’Lah, Jermarrieo, Zyana, Brandon, Anthony, Dedric Jr., Mikayla, Jimea, Tayquan, Jimmy, Marquis, Jamari, Khaliq, Donavan & last but not least Her bubble gum girl Lynseigh!! Siblings; Wongee Jr., (Cleo), Annie (George- devoted brother), Rita “Nikki”, Dwayne, Thomasina (Larry). Uncles; Arthur Lewis (Teen), Paul Bruce (Vernell). Best Friend of 45 years Zenobia “Zee” Ziegler. Devoted cousin; Paulleatha Bruce. Devoted neighbors; Charles, Janet-Lorraine, Johnathan, Bernett-BW., & Lorraine and a host of nephews, nieces other relatives and friends.
Funeral Service Saturday, November 5, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. at Springhill Baptist Church, Blackstone with interment in the church cemetery.
