Obituary for Theodore M. Roberts
Theodore Murden Roberts of Amelia, Virginia transitioned from his earthly body to his heavenly body at the age of 76 on Tuesday, December 10, 2019 at St. Francis Hospital. Theodore, born March 9, 1943 was the youngest child of the late M/SGT Retired William Murden Roberts and Estelle Brown Roberts.
Theodore was educated in the Norfolk, Virginia public school system. He was a member of the class of 1961 at Booker T. Washington High School. He also attended Norfolk State College.
His early work experience included working with food service at the Norfolk Airport and Atlantic City, New Jersey hotels. He also worked as a Merchant Seaman.
Theodore served in the U.S. Army where he was a clerk attached to the medical/mortuary units in Germany. He received an Honorable Discharge.
Mt. Nebo Baptist Church became Theodore’s home church in 2015.
Theodore is a member of VFW Post 5313 of Blackstone, Virginia. He received much enjoyment from all sports activities on television.
Surviving Theodore are two brothers, William Murden Roberts, Jr. (Ramona) of Jacksonville, Florida and Willie Roberts (Sandra) of Junction City, Kansas; four sisters, Delores R. Pitt-Hawkes (John) of Amelia, Virginia, Paulette R. Sylvester (Demetrius) of Newport News, Virginia, Patricia Cunningham of Junction City, Kansas and Belinda R. Medrano (Edward) of Peyton, Colorado; one uncle, Nathaniel Brown (Willie Bea) of Norfolk, Virginia; and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins and friends.
Funeral Services Saturday, December 14, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. at Mt. Nebo Baptist Church, Blackstone. Interment Tuesday, December 17, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. at the Virginia Veterans Cemetery, Amelia.
