Obituary for Thelma Mae Tucker
Mrs. Thelma Mae Pitts Tucker departed this life on February 14, 2024 at Bon Secours Southside Regional Medical Center, Petersburg, VA. She was the daughter of the late Rosetta Bland Pitts and Charles Pitts.
Thelma was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Ann Neal; grandsons, Matthew Pullan, Aaron Pullan, Jamel Tucker; aunts, Alice Snell, Daisy Ford; uncles Louis Ford, Sr and Norman Snell.
She was a Foster High School alumni and graduate of the class of 1960. Thelma worked as Administrative Assistant for Queen Public Library, Queens, NY and as a receptionist for Heritage Hall, Blackstone, VA.
Thelma was very loving, kind, witty, independent and very outspoken. She enjoyed cooking and spending time with family and friends. She was full of laughter, knowledge and loved to entertain. She will be truly missed by all.
Thelma leaves to cherish her memories: her beloved and devoted husband of sixty-two years William M. Tucker Sr (known to her as “Sonny”); sons William M. Tucker, Jr. and Eric L. Tucker, Sr; brother Aubrey Pitts, Sr; daughter-in-law, Ramona Tucker; grandchildren Eric L. Tucker Jr., Kanessa Pullan, Tevin Tucker and Kendall Tucker; great grandchildren, Jaylyne Walker and Kiyah Pullan; sisters-in-law Virginia Pitts, Mary Goode, Fannie Jackson, Elsie Gholson, Jacqeline Downs, Zelda Tucker-Dugger, Shirley Hawkes, Lottie K. Tucker and Lillian Tucker; brothers-in-law, James Tucker and C.L. Hawkes; a host of devoted nieces, Adrienne Wallace, Kim Neal and Sundeany Fitzgerald; nephew, cousins and devoted relatives.
A special thank you to a close family friend that supported beyond measure, Kathy Mayfield; other close family and friends to include Carolyn Clay, Shimeeka Clay, Mae Tucker, Bea Downs, Barbara Winston, Marie Fitzgerald, Eunice Lee, Lillian Collins, Lula Mae Washington and the staff of Bon Secours ICU units.
