Obituary for Thelma L. Dickerson
Thelma Lee Allen was special even at the day of her birth, she was a twin.  Mr. Lloyd Johnson and Dorothy Allen were blessed on August 12, 1944 with Velma Allen and Thelma Lee Allen.  On June 23, 2012 God called her to her "Heavenly Home."
Thelma attended Nottoway Public School and has been employed in domestic servicies in various capacities.  She was employed at Crewe Garment Factory for many years.  She was also an employee of Fort Pickett Army Base.  In 1982, she bagan to pursue her passion of taking care of kids.  She began babysitting.
Though Thelma kept a very serious expression on her face, she was a very kind and loving person.  She cared deeply for her family and friends.  She held a special place in her heart for Children.
On September 9, 1963, Weslie Dickerson and Thelma Lee Allen completed their circle of love by exchanging vows that you promise to endure through "sickness and health until death us do part."  They were blessed with two children, Bruce Allen and LaTasha Coleman.  Thelma raised two of her grandchildren as her own, Bruce and Erica Cabbins, she found a special place in her heart for Antonio Greene.
At an early age, Thelma accepted Christ and joined the Fourth Mount Zion Baptist Church and later joined Eleven Oaks Baptist Church.  She would make it known that she missed being in church when she was unable to attend.  Her ministry in church was the food ministry.  Her patato salad and sweet potato pies will be greatly missed.
Before the sunset on Thelma, she was preceded in death by her parents:  Lloyd Johnson and Dorothy Allen and her siblings, Florence, May, Robert and Roy.  Her twin preceded her in death on March 23, 2012.
Though we were deeply saddened by the pains she had to endure, Thelma relied upon the words of God, "Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever" (Psalm 23:6).
She leaves to cherish her memories:  her husband, Weslie Dickerson; her son, Bruce Allen; her daughter, LaTasha Coleman (Russell Coleman, Jr.); grandchildren, Bruce, Erica, Shauntil, Wilbert, Jermarus and DeShawn Cabbins, Rashauna, Taiyani, RaKira, Alonia, Aquira, Atondala'ya, Pryncess, King Russell, and Precious Coleman; three great grandchildren, Bruce Cabbins, Jr., Sha'mya and Zamonte' Thompson; two godchildren, Layla and Khaleeb Paige; two sisters, Katy Johnson and Shirley Gilbert; three brothers-in-law, Daniel who was very dear to her like a brother, Wilbert and Roosevelt Dickerson; two sisters-in-law, Mattie Lee Seay (Dennis) and Marie Dickerson; seven nieces; two nephews; may other cousins, relatives and friends.
