Obituary for Shirley D. Tucker
On May 30th, a beautiful Spring day in 1950, the lovely SHIRLEY DELORES LOGAN TUCKER in the town of Mollusk, Lancaster County, VA was born. She was called from her earthly home by God to her heavenly home on Tuesday, February 16, 2010 at 7:05 a.m., to come and receive the reward prepared for her. Shirley was born to the late James Bernard and Ruth Logan.
Her studies included education in the Lancaster County and Richmond County Public Schools. Her employment included positions with the Library of Congress in Washington, DC; Owner and Operator of Logan Trucking Company in Maryland and Friedman Jewelers in Blackstone, VA.
Shirley was married to Danny Blue and to this union one son was born. She later married Philip Thompson and to this union a daughter and son were born. In 1992 Shirley married Tyrone Tucker, Sr. of Blackstone, VA.
Shirley began using her God given gift of singing at an early age at the Harvey Memorial Baptist Church of Washington, DC. Her voice will not be silenced because she will be singing in the Heavenly choir with the angelic hosts worshipping our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ throughout eternity. Shirley was a faithful member of the Shiloh Baptist Church in Blackstone, VA and was a dedicated member of various choirs where she served until her health failed.
Shirley was very outspoken and had a great sense of humor. She also possessed a lavish style of fashion which she was often complimented for. She loved to open her heart and home to family and friends, and always looked forward to the many holidays so she could cook those big festive dinners.
Shirley will be missed tremendously, but we will meet again in Heaven, never to depart.
Shirley leaves to cherish her fond memories: a devoted husband of 17 years, Tyrone Tucker, Sr.; son Danny Blue, Sr. of Crewe, VA; daughter Keisha King of Richmond, VA; son Philip Thompson, Jr. of Brooklyn, NY; also sons, Tyrone Tucker, Jr. (Sherry), Kelly Tucker (Terri) of Richmond, VA, Dwayne Tucker (Suzanne) of Blackstone, VA; seventeen grandchildren, six devoted, Danny Jr., Danaisha, Tavaria, Richard Jr., Alexis and Montrey; five Godchildren, Reggie Ball of Weems, VA, Loren Taylor and Jerry Fisher both of Laurel, MD, Aaron Lurry of Capitol Heights, MD and Tyonna Merritt of Farmville, VA; sisters, Jean Brown (Sheldon) of Baltimore, MD, Alice Thomas of Philadelphia, PA; Brenda (Nathaniel) Turner, Madlyn Logan, Pamela Gordon-Harrod (Littleton), Ella Artis all of Hampton, VA, Karen Butler (Henry) of Orangeburg, SC, Connie Galloway and Tabitha Galloway, both of Greensboro, NC; god-sister, Elizabeth Ball (Clarence) of Mollusk, VA; brothers, Walter Ben (Karen) Howard of Philadelphia, PA, James Logan of Florida, Goldie (Shantay) Logan of Clinton, MD and Val Logan of Hampton, VA; two brothers-in-law, Ben Tucker and Harold (Alice) Tucker of Blackstone, VA; a devoted niece, Ursula Taylor of Laurel, MD and a devoted daughter-in-law, Kim Blue Marshall of Baltimore, MD; a host of nieces, Nephews, cousins, friends, Colleagues, and her favorite pet Chihuahua Buster.
