Obituary for Sherwood S. Patterson
Mr. Sherwood Patterson, Shake, Uncle Shake, aka Black Face, aka Shankee Son, 56 was born on August 15, 1965, a birthday he shared with his aunt Gertrude Elder, to Haywood Patterson Jr. and Morine Patterson of Blackstone, VA. He was called home to be with our Father God on Thursday, February 10, 2022.
Sherwood confessed Christ at an early age and was baptized under the leadership of Pastor Terry. Shake received his education in the Nottoway County School System.
Sherwood always held his mother close to his heart. He also had a genuine love for his family, especially his nieces and nephews. True friends was like family and he never met a stranger.
Sherwood, Shake, Uncle Shake, aka Black Face, aka Shankee Son was a lover of entertainment. Shankee Son was known to do the shimmy dance. Aka Black Face said “he don’t shimmy no mo he now do the Bobby Brown”. Uncle Shake could be seen shakin his Booty Booty Booty!!! Shake could be heard from the kitchen screaming “I like noodle BaBe”. Shake was a great grill master. He lived a wonderful life and had an infectious spirit.
Sherwood was preceded in death by his father, Haywood Patterson Jr.; grandparents, Theodore and Gladys Elder, Haywood Sr. and Lucille Patterson; sister, Linda Worsham; brother, George Patterson; and nephews, Antonio Elder and Allen Bradshaw.
Sherwood leaves to cherish his love and memories to his Queen, his mother, Morine Patterson; six symbolizing sisters, Gwendolyn Craig (Kevin), Floreace Claiborne, Gertie Elder, Wanda Coleman, Cynthia Patterson and Shery Brown; one big brother, Milton Elder; one brother from another mother, Jeffrey Patterson; two brothers-in-law, Randolph Coleman and Kevin Brown; a vast number of nieces and nephews; four aunts; one uncle; many devoted cousins, other family and friends.
Viewing Friday, February 18, 2022 from 12 to 7PM. Funeral Services Saturday, February 19, 2022 at 1:00PM at Jerusalem Baptist Church, Blackstone. Interment church cemetery.
