Obituary for Sherman Wright
Sherman Wright, 63 of 1122 Cole Harbor Rd., Blackstone, VA departed this life on September 2, 2022 at MCV Hospital, VA. He was born on August 1, 1959 at St. Phillips Hospital in Richmond, VA to his parents, Jessie L. Wright and Virginia M. Whitley Wright. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jessie L. Wright and Virginia Wright; a brother Jessie Wright Jr.; and a sister Janice Whitley.
Sherman graduated from Nottoway Senior High School with the class of 1978. he joined the United States Army where he served three years. Afterwards he worked at the Smithsonian Institute in Washington, D.C. for many years, other places he worked, Carbon in Farmville, VA, a custodian at Nottoway High School and the Department of Corrections Education Training. Later in life he owned and managed his own floor cleaning business, called Wright’s Floor and Restoration until his health declined.
Sherman leaves to cherish his memories: two daughters, Karla Wright of Buckingham, VA and Cabreia Wright of Crewe, VA; two stepsons, Leroy Green of Blackstone, VA and Angelo Allen (Amy) of Richmond, VA; four loving grandchildren, JaKira Rose of Buckingham, Ca’Niyah Wright, Ja’Siah Wright of Crewe and Gabriel Allen of Richmond; one brother, Calvin Whitley (Sharon) of Richmond, VA; two sisters, Sandra Whitley of Blackstone, VA and Sherry Hardy of Ford, VA; four devoted friends, Alvin Dyson, Frankie Lipscomb, Ephraim Stokes and Tralve Bass III; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other friends.

Funeral Service: Saturday, September 10, 2022 at 11AM at W.E. Hawkes & Son Funeral Home, Blackstone.
Interment: Private
