Obituary for Shelia Delaney
Shelia Lorraine Delaney affectionately known as (La La) was born on August 27,1951, to the late Bernard and Nannie Delaney Sr. in Bronx, New York. She departed this life peacefully at her home surrounded by loved ones on July 12, 2018.
Shelia cherished her last days being around the family and people she loved, always trying to put a smile on her face. Just knowing she had the people and family she loved around, meant so much to her during her difficult times.
Shelia attended school in New York upon moving to Virginia with her parents and two sisters. She attended Russell Grove High School then Nottoway Skill Center where she studied Nurse’s Aid until she obtained her Nurse’s Aid Certificate. She had a great passion caring for others and worked in various nursing homes. Her last job was at Amelia Nursing Home where she worked for many years until her health began to fail.
Shelia was baptized at St. James Baptist Church which she attended whenever possible. She loved her gospels, good food, dancing and a good laugh among family whenever we saw one another.
Shelia was preceded in death by her brother Bernard Delaney, Jr. and nephew, Devron L. Delaney.
Shelia leaves to cherish her fond and loving memories her sons: Tyrone (Heather) & Jerome (Nicole); four grandchildren: Jasmine, Jayden, Devron & Donald; four sisters: Martha Delaney (Bronx, NY), Vivian Delaney (Richmond, VA), Jean Delaney (Jetersville, VA), Linda Bayard (Bartow) (Richmond, VA); sister-in-law: Rosa Mae Delaney (Mount Vernon, NY); daughter/niece, Tyrene Delaney (Jetersville, VA); a host of nieces, nephews, great and great-great nieces and nephews; family and friends too many to name.
