Sue accepted the Lord as her Savior at an early age, and was baptized at Mt. Calvary Baptist Church. As a young girl she sang in the youth choir. She remained an active and faithful member of the church until her untimely departure.

She furthered her education at Southside Virginia Community College where she received her Associates of Arts and Science Degree in Business Administration in 2006.
Sue learned the meaning of hard work at an early age. As a youth she worked for Greenhill Catering and Hardee’s Restaurant. She later went on to become a correctional officer working with youth at Beaumont Juvenile Correctional Center for five years until she resigned to devote all of her time to being a stay-at-home mom to the loves of her life, Cedric Jr. and Bryce.
Sue loved spending time with and taking care of her family. She also had a passion for doing hair and reading in her spare time.
Sue’s life long friendship with Cedric Hawkes Sr. evolved into a beautiful love. They had a strong commitment to each other and to their beautiful sons Cedric Jr. and Bryce.
Sue was preceded in death by her father, Therman R. Oliver Sr.; brothers, Terrance and Therman Jr. (Summer); sister, Mildred; and uncles, Ronald and Mack (Connie).
