Obituary for Scott McCormick
Scott McCormick made his transition on Saturday, January 25, 2020. He was born on June 28, 1938 to the late James and Lizzy Kibler-McCormick (they preceded in death). He was also preceded in death by his wife, Zolia McCormick and four siblings: Dorethea McCormick Ballard, James McCormick, Jr., Webber McCormick, and Willeen McCormick Wactor. He was the oldest of 12 siblings. Seven siblings are in celebration of his homegoing: Clara McCormick, Bessie McCormick, Elizabeth McCormick Tucker, Henry McCormick, Mary Alice McCormick, Marlene McCormick and Earnestine McCormick.Â
He grew up in Cassatt, SC. He was raised in a Baptist home and knew  the Lord early. When he wasn’t working on the family farm, Scott, as a teenager, drove himself and his classmates to school as the designated bus driver. He graduated from Jackson High School (Camden, SC) and later moved to Englewood, NJ and worked at Englewood Hospital for a number of years.
In 1997 Scott retired as a lineman  from Ford Motor Company to enjoy his life and family. He later worked with his brother in law, Jack Green at the Southside Voice Newspaper as a delivery man. He enjoyed traveling around the cities of Richmond and Hampton, Virginia spreading joy to everyone he met.Â
He leaves to cherish his memory: two daughters, Kelli McCormick-Jones (Lynchburg, VA) and Lisa Monet McCormick (Richmond, VA); his  niece, Shatan Smith (POA and Executor); Robert Bowler (care giver and friend); grandchildren, Da’Ron and Da’Ronda  McCormick, Anthony Pullen, Jayden Graves and Michael Saunders, Jr; two great grandchildren, Da’Ron and Da’Rius McCormick; two sisters in law, Minister Chris Smith and Mary Lewis; one brother in law, William Smith, as well as  a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and  devoted friends.
The family will greet friends on Friday, January 30, 2020 at the funeral home from 6 to 8 pm.
Funeral Services Saturday, February 1, 2020 at 11:00 am at W.E. Hawkes & Son Funeral Home Chapel, Blackstone. Interment Adams Family Cemetery, Crewe.
