Obituary for Sadie Marie Braithwaite
Sadie Marie Braithwaite Singleton “C.C.” was born May 5, 1935 in Nottoway County, Virginia and made her final departure on February 22, 2015. She made it home where she was welcomed by her mother Annie Gilliam and father Herman Henderson, her sisters Alberta, Gladys, Mable, Nellie, Myrtle, her brothers Howard, Paul, John, grandson Maurice and several nieces and nephews.
At an early age she began her work with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ at First Nottoway Baptist Church, Crewe, VA. She attended school in Nottoway County and graduated from Nottoway High School.
From 1952 to 1966 she gave birth to ten children: Nancy, Myrtle, Annie, Robert Jr., Patricia, Veronica, Vondell, Pamela, Sharon and Keith.
She later moved to New York where she joined Christian Community Baptist Church in Brooklyn and became active on the Usher Board, and was known as the Church Baker. In 2005, she moved back to Virginia.
She leaves a legacy of love and cherished memories to all ten of her children; her husband Edward Singleton, Jr., whom she married on January 2, 1986; two sisters Thelma and Yvonne; two sons-in-law Michael and Carlos; twenty-two grandchildren; thirty-two great grandchildren with one expected in May; five brothers-in-law, Ernest, Danny, Gerald, Wendy, Tracey; four sisters-in-law Doris, Peggy, Virginia, Brenda; special friend Sharon Goodine; godchild Dominique Goodine; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends.
