Obituary for Ruth Ella Boyd
Mrs. Ruth Ella Boyd (Ruby) was born in Chesterfield, Virginia on September 16, 1943. She was the youngest daughter of the late Clarence Raleigh Smith and Mamie W. Smith.
She accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age as a member of First Union Baptist Church of Richmond, Virginia. She was an active member for many years. Ruth was a product of the Chesterfield County Public School System where she graduated from Carver High School Class of 61’.
Ruth married Robert Edward Boyd and had one son Robert Eric Boyd. She worked for twenty years at Olan Mills Photography Studio as a secretary. She found her true calling as a salesperson, secretary, and office assistant at the Neat Sweep Chimney Service where she worked for thirty years until her retirement in 2020. She spoke often of the laughter and fun she had on the job and her lasting friendships with her co-workers and her boss Frank Kaestner.
Ruby as she was affectionately called by many adored spending time with family and friends. She truly enjoyed eating, laughing, taking naps, and her cats. She became a member of Back to Health and Healing Outreach Ministries Seven Day Adventist Church where she rededicated her life to Christ. Ruby worked with helping to spread the word of God and feeding those in need.
Mrs. Boyd leaves to cherish her memory: her beloved son Robert Boyd and her constant furry companion Roo Boyd. Three grandchildren Roderick, Kayla, and Sable and six great grandchildren. A devoted and loving sister and brother in law Shirley and Bobby Delaney, two brothers Randy Anderson (Debra) and Lonnie Wayne Anderson. One devoted and loving niece Sherita Delaney nephews Tuvonte, Jamal, Randy Jr (Keedy) Anderson. Beloved Godson Michael P. Jackson and loving cousins. Devoted friends Agustina Jackson, Lillian Smith, Barbara Booker, Joyce Jackson, Jean Salley, Shirley Harris, Anna Dean Farmer, Marsha Ann Smith, Willie and Jackie Harris, Brenda Wynne, Dr. and Mrs. Stephenson Bynum and many other caring family members and friends.
