Obituary for Ruth Alice Hayes
SISTER RUTH A. HAYES entered into eternal rest and peace on Saturday, August 9, 2008 at her home on Taylor Street in Blackstone, VA. She was born on February 10, 1947 in Dundas, VA to Jimmie and Elizabeth Lawson. She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother and a sister.
Ruth was affectionately known as “Aunt Ruth” to family and close friends. She loved caring for people and demonstrated that love with dedicated service to Nottoway Social Services department caring for the elderly.
She was an active member of Pentecost Church Of God In Christ in Blackstone, VA where she served as president of the usher board. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her dearly.
Sister Ruth memories will forever be cherished by her four children, Robert Bell, Patricia Ann Taylor (Lewis), James T. Bell and Mark A. Bell, all of Blackstone, VA; seven grandchildren, Rita Bell, Tywain J. Bell, Latesha Bell, Tyeisha Bell, Mark Couch, Robert DaShanun Lucas, Anthony Lewis; one great grandchild, Devon Gregory; three foster children, Alicia Wright, Latoya Wright, Ronald Frisby; four foster grandchildren, Tyxzavion, Traveonte Jahmarion and TaCorion; seven sisters, Mollie (Caliph), Lucy (Charles), Gloria (William), all of Blackstone, VA, Marie (James) of Nottoway, VA, Elizabeth (Johnny), Rosa (Frank), both of Goldboro, NC and Helen (Richard) of Lawrenceville, VA; six brothers, Willie (Cheryl), Jimmie (Rosa), Charles, all of Blackstone, VA, Clarence, Walter and Robert, all of Baltimore, MD; two step sisters, Mary and Bertha, both of Baltimore, MD; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and neighbors whose lives she touched dearly. She will be greatly missed by her two best friends, Mary Sue Carter and Saddie Lucus, and a devoted friend, James Bradshaw.
The family will greet friends at the funeral home on Friday, August 15, from 7 to 8 p.m.
Funeral Services Saturday, August 16, 2008 at 1:00 p.m. at Pentecost Church of God in Christ, Blackstone, VA with interment in the church cemetery, Victoria, VA.
