Ruby Kay Pettis, daughter of the late James and Nelvin Craft Anderson, was born June 17, 1928 in Chatham, Virginia. At a very young age her parents moved to Nottoway County. She departed this life on Tuesday, August 16, 2016 at Heritage Hall Health Care in Blackstone, Virginia.
Ruby attended school in Nottoway County. She was a faithful member of the Sharon Seventh Day Adventist Church in Crewe, Virginia. She served faithfully as Church Sabbath School Secretary for many years. Ruby loved to sing and play piano.
Ruby married Henry F. Pettis, a military veteran whom preceded her in death. They were blessed with one child, Ruby Kay Pettis.
Ruby was a cafeteria worker at Crewe High School for several years..
Ruby leaves to cherish her memory: one daughter, Ruby Kay Pettis of Petersburg, Virginia; one grandson, Dawud Glover of Blackstone, Virginia; two brothers, Willie Anderson (Yvonne) of Baltimore, Maryland and Ray Anderson (Laura) of Blackstone, Virginia; three sisters, Gladys Jennings of Crewe, Virginia, Mary Jackson of Richmond, Virginia and Gay Anderson of Brooklyn, New York; and many other relatives and friends.
Funeral Services Sunday, August 21, 2016 at 1:00p.m. at Sharon Seventh Day Adventist Church, Crewe. Interment Anderson Family Cemetery, Crewe.
