Obituary for Rozelia Y. Hardy
Rozelia Yates Hardy was born in Blackstone, VA on January 6, 1935 to the late Aubrey and Sarah Yates. The Father quietly called her home at Heritage Hall Nursing Home on Sunday, June 25, 2017

Rozelia graduated from Luther H. Foster High School. She accepted the Lord at an early age and became a member of Cellar Creek Baptist Church, where she was faithful and loyal until her health started to decline. She was the church clerk for thirty-seven years, a position she truly loved. She also belonged to the Deaconess Club, Pastor’s Aid Circle and church choir. Rozelia loved to sing God’s praises.

Rozelia was joined in marriage to Herbert H. Hardy, Sr on June 19, 1954. She loved herself some Herbert, they were married for sixty years until Herbert passed in 2014. What a perfect union.

Rozelia worked at Levi Strauss for twenty three years until her health wouldn’t let her work anymore.

Rozelia loved her church hats. Her love, kindness and food will be forever remembered.

Rozelia was predeceased by her husband, Herbert H. Hardy, Sr., her daughter Neldonia Tucker, son-in-law, Captain Bernard E. Tuck; a brother Roger Yates, and a sister Jean Carey.

Rozelia leaves to cherish her memories: three children, Gwen, Herbert Jr., and Alfonza: son-in-law, Ben Tucker; grandchildren, devoted Awan Hardy, devoted Tiana Tucker, Nicole Dawkins, Shelton Hardy, Jeremiah Lewis and Lolita Hardy; great grandchildren, Pvt. Trevond Parker, Leila Johnson, Alexander Hardy and Alfonza Hardy, Jr.; sisters Lucille Campbell and Ethel Roy; brothers, James Yates (Elsie) and Rudolph Yates (Stephanie); sister-in-law, Virgie Yates; brother-in-law Portress Hardy; stepmother Martha Yates; host of nieces and nephews, devoted niece Monica Hazelwood Hazelwood Frisby; devoted cousin like a daughter, Brenda L.
