Obituary for Rosetta B. Pitts
MRS. ROSETTA BLAND PITTS, 91 of Crewe, VA departed this life on July 2, 2010, at Community Memorial Healthcenter, South Hill, VA. She was born July 13, 1918 in Crewe, VA. Rosetta was the daughter of Royal Benjamin and Sudeany Scott Bland.
Rosetta accepted Christ at an early age at Hickory Grove Baptist Church in Crewe, VA and was a member for many years. She later joined Union Baptist Church in Crewe, VA and remained a member until her health declined.
Rosetta was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She was a friendly, caring and loving woman. “Lady Bug” as she was affectionately known never shied away from sharing her thoughts and opinions. She had a passion for cooking, baking, watching her soap operas and raising her grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She provided a very loving, warm, and stable home for her children, grandchildren and extended family. She touched so many lives, and her loving ways will always be remembered.
Rosetta was preceded in death by her devoted and loving husband, Charles Henry Pitts; her parents, Benjamin and Sudeany Bland; a brother, Benjamin Bland.
Rosetta leaves to cherish her memories: two children, James Aubrey (Virginia) Pitts of Louisville, KY and Thelma Mae (William) Tucker, Sr. of Crewe, VA; two sisters, Alice (Norman) Snell and Daisy Ford of Crewe, VA; six grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; two nieces (one devoted, Ann “Dexter” Neal); one nephew; and a host of other relatives and friends, among them Barbara Winston of Louisville, KY.
Visitation Wednesday from 6 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
Funeral Services Thursday, July 8, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at First Nottoway Baptist Church, Crewe with interment in the church cemetery.
W.E. Hawkes & Son Funeral Home of Blackstone in charge of arrangements.
