Obituary for Rosa M. Fowlkes
Rosa M. Fowlkes, 96 of Richmond, Virginia and formerly of Blackstone entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, November 12, 2013 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Richmond, Virginia. Daughter of the late Nathaniel and Lottie Morgan, she was born September 12, 1917 in Nottoway County, Virginia
Rosa was employed for many years by Richmond Public Schools. She was a faithful member of the Shiloh Baptist Church until her health declined. She also attended Sixth Street Baptist Church in Richmond, Virginia.
Rosa loved cats, and was especially fond of her cat Samantha.
She is survived by her husband of seventy-four years, James Edward Fowlkes; two godsons, Archer Collier, Jr. of Richmond, Virginia and Harvey (Dawn) Collier of Washington, DC;Â a devoted niece, Mary Lee Coleman of Blackstone; a special nephew, Richard L. Coleman of Forrestville, Maryland; two sisters-in-law, Mary F. Jackson and Alma F. Smith (Clarence) both of Blackstone, Virginia; nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
Services will be held Wednesday, November 20, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. at W.E. Hawkes & Son Funeral Home Chapel, Blackstone with interment in the Greenview Cemetery, Blackstone.
