Obituary for Rosa Lee Nash
God in His infinite wisdom dispatched his angels to bring home one of his cherished children Rosa Lee Evans Nash in the early morning hours of June 7, 2019, after a lengthy illness. Within her home, with her husband by her side, Rosa was surrounded by her family within her last days.
Born August 25, 1940, to the late Ford and Fannie Evans, she was educated at Russell Grove School graduating in 1959. She was raised in the Pleasant Grove community by the loving care of Ms. Emma Goodman and accepted Christ and joined the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church at a young age. After high school, Rosa attended cosmetology school to pursue styling hair, which she had done for many years within the Pleasant Grove community.
Marrying the love of her life, Mr. Willie R. Nash on April 22, 1961, their union was blessed with six children. Affectionately called “Mick”, she worked domestically in the Brandermill area for years helping to raise the children of many families until she retired to assist in keeping her grandkids.
Mick loved her family and spent many hours on the phone ensuring everyone was in place and safe. She enjoyed cooking for her grandchildren and telling them old stories, listening to gospel music, looking at old pictures, reading the newspaper multiple times a day and doing crossword puzzles.
Rosa was preceded in death by her daughters: Lorraine Nash and Charlene Henley; her siblings: Mary Ann, Sarah, Margaret, Melvin and Robert.
She leaves to cherish her fond memories, her dedicated and devoted husband of 58 years Willie, children; Arthur (Bonita), George (Karen), Anthony (Christine) and Kenneth (Kathleen), 10 grandchildren; Miriam, Tony, Tonique, Aishah, Augustus, Kiandra, Tyrell, Kenneth Michael, Kisha and Shaira; 19 great-grandchildren; sister, Blanche Tyler; sister-in-laws, Geraldine Phillips and Ernestine Taylor (Roger), brother-in-law, Harold Nash and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
