Obituary for Rosa K. Fowlkes
ROSA K. FOWLKES, 61 years old, born in Crewe VA to proud parents Roger and Addie Kirby, she went to be with the lord suddenly on Wednesday, July 27, 2016 in Richmond, Virginia.
She was educated in the Nottoway County Public School System, earning her high school diploma. She furthered her education at Key Business School in Richmond, Virginia.
She was joined in holy matrimony on July 24, 1999 to the love of her life Forrest (Moose) Fowlkes. From a previous marriage she had a daughter Ariel that she and Moose raised together. Rose and Moose purchased their first home together in Richmond, Virginia. She also played an important part in a delivery business venture they started together.
Rosa loved traveling with her husband, friends and family to Williamsburg VA. She loved entertaining family and friends, and let’s not forget fishing! For the last nine years of her life she worked for the Richmond Sheriff Department where she held several positions, her last one being Community Service Coordinator.
She leaves to cherish her memories: her husband Forrest (Moose), her parents, Roger and Addie Kirby of Crewe, VA; her step son George Williams, and his son Shannon of Baltimore MD; her god daughter Teyarcca Olivis of Richmond VA; six brothers Walter Kirby of Richmond VA, William Kirby of Richmond VA, Roy (Vernell) Kirby of Crewe, Calvin Kirby of Crewe VA, Carl (Syburba) Kirby of Richmond VA and Mark (Gwen) Kirby of Farmville VA; two step sisters, Darlene Simmons and Yvette (Bobby) Simmons of Cullen, VA; and a host of other nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Viewing will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, August 3, 2016 from 10:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m.
Funeral Services Thursday, August 4, 2016 at 12:00 p.m. at Nottoway High School Auditorium, Crewe with interment to follow in the Fowlkes Family Cemetery, Crewe
