Obituary for Rosa "Black" Cousins
Rosa Alma Black Cousins was born to the late Lena Jones Black and John L. Black, Sr. in Nottoway County, VA on March 3, 1930.  She was the tenth of twelve children.  She was preceded in death by siblings, Andrew, Harry, Paul (Tee), Harold, Willie (Buster), Alice, Betty, Inell and Lena (Dobbie).She was educated in the public schools of Nottoway County and studied Business at Virginia State College (University).  Rosa joined Shiloh Baptist Church at an early age.  She was active in many church organizations, among them the Senior Choir, Dorcas Circle and Missionary Circle.  She served faithfully for many years until her health began to fail.She was a very talented seamstress who loved to sew for family and friends.  She also loved to play the organ.She leaves to cherish her memory:  two brothers, George Black, Sr. of Blackstone, VA and John Black of Portsmouth, VA; sisters-in-law, Vergie Black of Blackstone, VA, Blossom Black of Portsmouth, VA, Sarah Black of Brooklyn, NY, Addie Black of Baltimore, MD, and Ella Clanton of Baltimore, MD; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends, and a devoted nephew, Kenneth Black, Sr. of Jetersville, VA.A Memoria Service will be held Saturday, November 10, 2007 at 12:00 noon from Shiloh Baptist Church, Blackstone.  W.E. Hawkes & Son Funeral Home of Blackston in charge of the arrangements.
