Obituary for Rosa B. Allen
Rosa Bernice Allen, the second oldest of nine children, daughter of the late Herman and Theresa Allen was born August 3, 1953. She departed this life on Friday, November 21, 2014 at Johnston Willis Hospital on the women’s cancer unit.
She attended Nottoway Public School and Luther H. Foster High School. She went to work for Piedmont Geriatric Hospital where she attained the title of Supervisor of Environmental Services, from which she retired in 2010 after thirty-three years of service.
Rosa was well known for her caring, loving heart. Her pleasant demeanor was shown to everyone she encountered or met. She had a very intoxicating and contagious laugh. Rosa was dedicated to her family, making positive that they were taken care of. From an early age, Rosa became a caretaker, dropping out of high school to take care of her sisters and brother, since then she has never stopped being deeply concerned about others.
Rosa was a devoted daughter, mother, sister, auntie and friend.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Herman James Allen, Jr., but leaves to cherish her memories: a fiancé Edward Gray, Sr.; one daughter, Detra Baker and one son Dwaine Allen, both of Crewe, VA; six sisters, Marian, Rita, Joyce Allen of Crewe, VA, Rachel Ellis of Burkeville, VA; Ella Robertson of Crewe, VA and Patricia Dartsch of Raleigh, NC; one brother, Jerome Allen of Crewe, VA; four grandchildren, Darrien and Darrius Baker, Trinity Allen and Joseph R. Deese, III; two aunts, Marie and Easter Eppes; a devoted niece Malessia Allen; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
