Deacon Robert Luther Spratley, age 83, affectionally known as “Pudding” was called to his heavenly home on Friday, December 6, 2024, at Centra Southside Community Hospital, Farmville, Virginia.
Robert was born on January 4, 1941, to the late Robert Spratley, Jr. and Annie Blackwell Spratley. He was joined in Holy Matrimony to the love of his life Hattie Butler on December 12, 1987. He was preceded in death by one daughter, Mary Ann Jones.
Robert attended Lunenburg County Public School. He worked at Lee Industries for many years. He retired as a Maintenance Worker for the Town of Blackstone after 10 years of service.
Robert accepted Christ at an early age, and joined the Little Mount Baptist Church, Blackstone, Virginia, where he faithfully attended until his health declined. He was a dedicated Deacon, a member of the Little Mount Choir and Men’s Chorus. He attended Sunday School and Bible Study. He loved singing and shared his talent throughout the community. Two of his favorite songs were “I’ve Had My Shares of Ups and Downs” and “Where Shall I Be.”
Robert leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of 36 years and 11 months, Hattie Butler Spratley of the home; one daughter, Louise Dagner (Gerald) of Blackstone, VA; one granddaughter Elizabeth Dagner of Blackstone, VA; one brother, Charles Jones (Brenda) of Richmond, VA. He also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, friends, and a devoted friend, William Bragg of South Hill, VA.
