Obituary for Robert Lee Blanks
ROBERT LEE BLANKS was born on March 21, 1934, to Addie Brown Blanks. He departed this life on November 3, 2010 at a hospital in Washington, DC.
Robert (Bobbie) as he was affectionately called was preceded in death by his mother, Addie Brown Blanks; his brothers, David (Snooks) and Edward Blanks.
Bobbie had a great impact on the lives of those he knew and loved. He was very witty and always had a humorous yet serious demeanor. Robert was a man of wisdom and he loved to read.
He attended school in Amelia County. Early in life he was baptized at Little Bethel Baptist Church, and later joined Zion Hill United Presbyterian Church. After graduating from Russell Grove High School, Bobbie continued his education at Johnson C. Smith University in Charlotte, NC.
He worked in Atlantic City, NJ for many years, then returned to Amelia to care for his mother. He found employment in the school system and began teaching at Jetersville Elementary School, Russell Grove Elementary School, and Amelia County High School. Bobbie also taught Bible Study at Zion Hill, Oak Grove, and Bethesda Presbyterian Churches, where he was their associate minister.
Robert leaves to cherish his memory: his first cousins, Velma Hawkes, Myrtle Bland, Welton Hawkes (BoBo), Rosetta Archie (John), Horace Hawkes (Bessie), and Katherine Banks; other cousins and friends. Devoted friends, Marjorie Dudley, Heddy Patterson; Henry Swann, Missouri Owens, and Mary Ann Hawkes.
Funeral Services Wednesday, November 10, 2010 at 12:00 noon at Zion Hill United Presbyterian Church, Amelia with interment in the Albright Cemetery, Amelia.
