Obituary for Robert F. Dickerson, Sr.
Robert F. Dickerson, Sr., aka “Pap” entered peacefully into eternal rest on Monday, March 9, 2020, at his residence in Amelia, VA. He was born on May 29, 1944 to the late Hiram and Louise Dickerson. He was the sixth child of seven siblings.
At an early age he was baptized and joined the Union Branch Baptist Church.
Robert was married to the late Sallie B. Dickerson for fifty years. He worked in the pulpwood and logging business for over forty years
He had a quiet spirit and was always willing to lend a helping hand to family and friends. He loved sharing his childhood memories of how he would ride the family horses, Nellie and Dolly doing his little tricks for his siblings, nieces and nephews. He was that brother and uncle who would wear his cap turned backwards. He loved sitting under the tree talking and listening to the guys shooting the breeze. His passion was playing his guitar and working on vehicles during his spare time. He was a joy to be around and loved his family.
Robert is preceded in death by his grandson, Trevell Dickerson; sister, Mary Crowder; brothers, Benny, John and Hiram Dickerson. Left to cherish his loving memories: his daughter, Xochela (Chee); son, Robert Jr.; granddaughter, Chelsea Dickerson; devoted sisters, Florine Bailey and Shirley Trent (John); sister-in-law, Joyce Dickerson; brother-in-law, William “Pete” Barley; devoted nephew, William Bailey; devoted niece, Alice Barley; along with a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.
Funeral Services Saturday, March 14, 2020 at 1:00 P.m. at Little Union Baptist Church, Amelia. Interment church cemetery.
