Obituary for Richard Wingo, Jr.
Richard Wingo, Jr., son of the late Deacon Richard Wingo, Sr. and Deaconess Violett B. Wingo, departed this life in the early morning on May 22, 2021 at the Wellsprings Nursing Home in Amelia, Virginia. Richard was born in Amelia County January 21, 1932. He graduated from Russell Grove High School in 1950. He was the greatest left-handed baseball pitcher on his team. Richard was baptized at the Pilgrim Baptist Church at the age of 12. He was a very quiet person and would sit with his eyes closed like he was asleep, but would talk to you if you asked him questions. He worked on the family farm until the military called him into service. Richard was a veteran of the United States Army where he served in both Korea and Germany. He returned home and lived a life of leisure.

Richard was preceded in death by one brother Charlie L. Wingo and one sister, Carolyn E. Wingo. He leaves to cherish his memories sisters Bettie W. Foster of Amelia, VA and Mary W. Brumskill of Jetersville, VA, one sister-in-law Maxine J. Wingo of Chesterfield, VA, and a host of nieces, great-nieces, nephews, great-nephews, cousins and best friend from high school Deacon Holcomb Thompson.
