Obituary for Richard H. Hawkes, Jr.
Richard Henry Hawkes, Jr., "Junnie" also known as "Richie Rich" was a resident of Hopewell, VA., departed this life on December 5, 2016 at MCV Hospital after a declining illness.

He was born on February 24, 1953 in Dinwiddie County to the late Richard H. Sr. and Rosa Mae Hawkes. He attended schools in Dinwiddie County, joined Shiloh Baptist Church at an early age and married his wife Carrie Johnson Hawkes on September 5, 2001.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Lee Royal Hawkes and Clifton P. Hawkes.

He leaves to mourn his devoted wife Carrie of Hopewell, VA; two beloved children Jeremy (Pumpkin) and Diana Hawkes of Hampton, VA from a previous marriage; seven grandchildren, Sha-quila and Aviance Hawkes, Tijae Brown, Kelynda Jackson, Amira Hunter, Brenton(Kyte) and Briana Meredith, four great grandchildren, Sanaii Newby, Kameryn Person, Kaydence and Ki’yel Meredith all of Hampton , VA; two brothers, Clinton Hawkes, Ernest Ray Hawkes (Edith) and Macktoy Hawkes (Juanita) of Blackstone, VA; two aunts Gloserine Bradsher of MD and Martha Bridgeforth of Blackstone, VA; one uncle Arthur Jackson of Blackstone, VA; mother in law, Pollie Kimbrough of Farmville, VA; eight sister in laws, Dorothy Avent (Handy) of Whittakers, North Carolina; Helen Hammond of Newport News, VA; Helena Moore (Johnny) of Richmond, VA; Thelma Merkinson of Farmville, VA; Frankie Robinson and Horacetine Kimbrough both of Richmond, VA; Mary Berryman of Virginia Beach, VA; four brother in laws, Abraham Kimbrough (Tonya) of Dillwyn, VA; Herman Berryman, Jr and Ray Berryman both of York, New Jersey and Darnell Berryman of Farmville, VA and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, special extended family members and friends.

Funeral Services Saturday, December 10, 2016 at 12:00 P.M. at Shiloh (Dinwiddie) Baptist Church, Blackstone. Interment church cemetery.

Mr. Hawkes may be viewed at the funeral home on Friday from 1:30pm until 8pm
