Obituary for Richard G. Perry, Sr.
At the whisper of God, Richard Granderson Perry Sr. departed from this earthly journey on Saturday, December 18, 2021, at St. Frances Medical Center and took his place as our angel, forever watching over us.
Richard, affectionately known as Rick, Slick Rick, Ricky, and Zeek, was born on August 28, 1973, to the late Deacon Fletcher Perry and Jaqueline Robinson Perry.
He attended Amelia County High School, where he excelled in football and baseball and graduated in 1992. After graduation, Rick obtained his Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) and began driving dump trucks and semi-trucks. He worked for over 25 years for various companies doing what he loved. Most recently, he was employed with Chaney Enterprises in Amelia, Virginia. In 2019, Rick was blessed to purchase his own truck, which was his dream come true! Along with driving trucks, Rick loved race cars, riding motorcycles, playing cards, spending time with his family, and his newfound love of being a DJ.
Rick married his high school sweetheart, Tarsha Wilkinson Perry, on July 5, 2006, in Nassau, Bahamas. From this union, they were blessed with four beautiful daughters, Sania, Nevaeh, Rikiya, and Imani.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his loving and devoted wife, Tarsha; his mother, Jacqueline Perry; three sons: DeAndre Johnson, Richard Perry Jr., and Davian Johnson; six daughters: Kiana Byrd, Zy’Asia Archer, Sania Perry, Nevaeh Perry, Rikiya Perry, and Imani Perry; granddaughter, Aria Perry; brother, Lonnie (Freda) Perry; sister, Joyce Fitzgerald, two special daughters, Talia Jackson and Kendra Rutledge; devoted cousins, Pernell Owens and Randy & Valerie Washington and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Rick definitely fought a good fight and finished the race.
