Richard "Blue" Odell Wallace entered eternal rest and peace on Friday, June 23, 2023 at Sentara Leigh Hospital in Norfolk, VA. Richard was 73 years old.
Richard was born August 15, 1949 in Blackstone, VA. He was preceded in death by his morther Cornelius Lee Cleary and father Richard William Wallace; as well as his wife, Sharon Lassiter.
Richard was educated in Nottoway County Public Schools and was drafted into the U.S. Army. He served in Vietnam and Desert Storm, He also spent time working in the National Guard. Richard also worked as a mental health worker at Central State Hospital as well as a nurse at the Hampton VA Hospital. In later years, Blue enjoyed working alongside his eldest daughter and family ag Happy Cafe' until he fell ill.
Richard was baptized ang gave his life to the Lord at Shallow Baptist Church at a young age.
Richard spent his days cooking, baking, gardening, watching western movies, bike riding and having political talks. He loved attending family gatherings and spending time with his family.
Richard is survived by two devoted daughters, Tomeka Wallace and Natasha Wallace (Virginia Beach, VA). one son-in-law, Jermaine Greene (Richmond, VA). The mother of his children Vanessa McClendon (Virginia Beach, VA). Four grandchildren: Younica Wallace, Demetrius Wallace, Deviontae' Russell, and Jason Harvey (Virginia Beach, VA). And one great-grandboy, Tilen Land (Virginia Beach, VA). One brother, Morris "Bubba" Wallace and one sister Theretha "Sissy" Wallace (Blackstone, VA). Three aunts, Mary Holloway (Richmond, VA), Ernestine Abbott and Shirley Hardy (Blackstone, VA). two uncles, Leon "Uncle Party" Abbott and Waverly Frisby (Blackstone, VA). He also leaves behind nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends, as well as a dedicated and lovng nurse an caretaker Maris.
