Obituary for Richard A. Delaney, Sr.
Richard Alexander Delaney Sr. was born May 16, 1942 in Amelia County, Virginia the third of four children to Lawrence and Luvinia Delaney. ‘Dick Richard’ as he was affectionately known, died peacefully on Monday, April 21, 2014.
He attended the Russell Grove school system. He joined church at an early age and was an active member until his health failed.
Dick Richard was a loving and devoted husband to Joyce Anderson Delaney since July, 1982. He was also a firm, but loving father, grandfather and great grandfather. He loved blues music, fishing, gardening, hunting and spending time with family and friends.
He was preceded into eternal rest by his father Lawrence Delaney; mother Luvinia Bolden, sister Viola Johnson and brother Mack Delaney.
He leaves to cherish his memory:Â his loving devoted wife of thirty-one years Joyce; brother Wesley R. Delaney; eight children, Sharon Morris(Russell), Richard A. Delaney Jr., Michael T. Delaney, Naomi Delaney, Debra Delaney, Lisa Johnson, Rosa Johnson and Rachael Coleman(James); twenty grand children; fourteen great-grandchildren; sister-in-law; Margaret Robinson (Gary); brother-in-law Hudson Anderson, Jr. (Dorothy); and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.Â
Funeral Services Saturday, April 26, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. at Holy Ghost Living Tabernacle, Jetersville with interment to follow in the church cemetery.
