Obituary for Reverend Willie R. Foster
Willie Raymond Foster, son of the late Charlie M. and Eleanor R. Was born July 24, 1924. He departed this life on Sunday, April 30, 2017.

Willie served in the Army Air Corp 105th 3rd Army Air Force Base Unit Pacific Air Transport Command until his discharge on March 31, 1946. Following his service to his country, he worked for Norfolk and Western Railway Company along side his father Charlie. After leaving the railroad, he started working at McGuire Veteran Hospital in Richmond, VA in the Engineering Department as a Master Plummer and Pipe Fitter for almost thirty-two years.

His service to the Lord spanned seven decades. He was ordained into the Deaconate Ministry under his father-in-law, Reverend Clifford Vaughan, Pastor of the Fourth Mount Zion Baptist Church in Crewe.

After moving to Richmond (1965), Willie also served in the Deaconate Ministry at Swansboro Baptist Church. Following his retirement, he returned to Fourth Mount Zion Baptist Church where he resumed his service as a deacon until accepting his call to preach. He was ordained in 1991.

Willie went on to serve as Pastor of New Poplar Mount in Amelia County, following his service there he returned to Fourth Mount Zion where he served as an Associate Minister until his death.

Willie was joined in marriage to Naomi Lee Vaughan on May 3, 1947. She preceded him in death on their 56th Wedding Anniversary, May 3, 2003. To this union seven children were born, three sons preceded him in death.

He leaves to cherish his memory: his children Gail (Charles) of Crewe, Glinda (Lee) and Kenneth (Denise) of North Chesterfield, and Naomi of Richmond; two daughters-in-law, Catherine of Roanoke and Inez of Crewe; twenty-one grandchildren, thirty-six great grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren; one sister Maggie Miles of Baltimore; one sister-in-law Ruth Terry of Maryland; one brother-in-law Reverend Walter Vaughan of Mississippi; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral Services will be held Monday, May 8, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Fourth Mt. Zion Baptist Church, 4222 Winningham Rd., Crewe, VA 23824. Interment private.
