Obituary for Reverend Ralph C. Royal
“But He knoweth the way that I take”, on the evening of November 29, 2008, an angel descended from heaven and returned with his servant Reverend Ralph C. Royal. He was born September 23, 1952, to the late Deacon Thomas and Ruth Royal.
Ralph attended elementary school in Jetersville and later Russell Grove High School, graduating from Amelia High School. After graduating he joined the U.S. Army. He served tours in Vietnam, Korea and Germany, along with various military bases throughout the United States. Following his military service, he became a letter carrier for the U.S. Postal service in Richmond, VA until his illness.
He joined Ebenezer Baptist Church, where he was active in Sunday School and later served as a deacon. Ralph later joined Mt. Olive Baptist Church under the Pastorship of Reverend Jackson.
Reverend Royal was called into the ministry and was ordained as Pastor of High Bridge Baptist Church. He was later called to shepherd Zion Baptist Church in Dillwyn, VA until his demise.
Reverend Royal leaves to mourn his loss: his devoted wife, Jerelene B. Royal; daughters, Shauntrese (Lamar), Cheryl and Terri; grandchildren, LeShaunnae Jeffries, Shamorrah Glover, Shaniya Ayanna and Juwann Nazir Dance, Delshae Green and DaeKwon Patterson; three brothers, Thomas, John and Nelson (Irma); four sisters, Viola Reed, Marcia Anderson, Gladys Robinson (George), and Minister Myrtle Royal-Dobson (Tracy); father-in-law and mother-in-law; five brothers-in-law to include co-laborer, Reverend Elvis Bland; three sisters-in-law; a host of nieces, great nieces, nephews, great nephews; five aunts; one uncle; other extended family members, friends and co-workers.
Funeral Services Friday, December 5, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at Hope Chapel, Amelia with interment in the Virginia Veterans Cemetery, Amelia.
