Obituary for Reverend Eddie Giles, Jr.
Rev. Dr. Eddie Giles, Jr. (also known as E.D.), a wonderful and beloved husband, father, grandfather, preacher, teacher and confidant, was called home to be with the Lord on Monday, January 18, 2021. He was a resident of Chesterfield, VA.
Dr. Giles was born on April 6, 1963, to the late Eddie Giles, Sr. and Susan Adeline Thompson Giles in Amelia County, VA. He attended and graduated from the Amelia County Public Schools. Eddie was a superb basketball player and track runner. Dr. Giles received his Bachelor of Arts from Richmond Virginia Seminary and Master of Divinity and Doctorate in Religion Studies from Virginia Triumphant College and Seminary. Eddie was a faithful employee with Tom Meats Produce, Richmond, VA for over 40 years.
Dr. Giles was baptized at Union Baptist Church at an early age, where he served the Lord in several capacities, Choir Member, Deacon, Missionary Member, Pastor Aid Member and Usher. As a dedicated servant of God he was called into the Ministry to Preach the Gospel in 1990.
Dr. Giles loved the Lord. He enjoyed preaching, teaching, singing and just talking about the Lord. He was an Evangelist, Revivalist and soul-stirring preacher. He preached the gospel with profound leadership over 19 years at Holy Trinity Baptist Church. He has been a wonderful preacher and teacher over 21 years at Reed Rock Baptist Church. Everyone could recognize Dr. Giles by his impeccable style and dress.
Throughout his life, Dr. Eddie Giles received several distinguished awards and prestigious positions as Past President of Ministers Conference in Amelia, Chesterfield and Powhatan Counties. Past Moderator of the United Baptist Protective Association and Allied Bodies, of Amelia, Nottoway, and Prince Edward Counties. Dr. Giles impacted many Ministers and Religious persons with his words, acts and kind deeds.
Dr. Giles was an active member of the Amelia Branch NAACP and a recipient of the Meritorious Community Service Award in 2012. He was active with the Sunday School Union in Amelia County and in Buckingham County. Dr. Giles lead his churches in sharing with the sister churches in combined services such as Easter, Christmas, Thanksgiving, and the Martin Luther King programs. He was well known in the community as one who conducted conferences, facilitated workshops, provided education training, and helped those in need. He received the Tom Meats Produce 35 year Employee Award.
He is survived by his loving wife, Diane Lenoir-Giles and son Justin Giles of (Chesterfield, VA), one daughter, LaToya Shalese Giles and grandson JaTory Dancy of Portsmouth, VA. A special nephew, Teon Lenoir (Priscilla) and grand niece, Drucilla. He also leaves to mourn: siblings; Ann Brown (Rev. Waverly Brown Sr.) Chase City, VA, Mary Allen (Wilbert) and Richard Giles of Petersburg, VA, Addie Woodley and Herbert Giles of Richmond, VA, Dorothy Giles and Sammie Giles (Valorie) of Amelia, VA. He was graciously embraced with wonderful brothers in law and sisters in law: A.D. Lenoir (Genice), Bernice Preston, Emanuel Lenoir (Venita), Larry Lenoir (Myrtis), Percy Lenoir, Pearlie Magee, Vinetta Magee (Arnell), Willie Lenoir (Linda) of Mississippi, Debbie Bullock (Oliver) of Tappahannock, VA and niece, Ronda Anderson (Greg) and nephew(Blake) of Woodbridge, VA an adopted Christian family - The Montague Family, a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. Four siblings preceded him in death, Annie Creighton, Henry Giles, James Giles and Ella Louise Hardy.

Public viewing Friday, January 22, 2021 from 1PM to 8PM..The immediate family will meet and greet friends from 6PM to 8PM.

Graveside Services, Saturday, January 23 at 11AM at Beulah Baptist Church Cemetery, 21209 Hull St. Road, Moseley, VA.

In lieu of flowers, monetary contributions may be made to Holy Trinity Baptist Church and Reed Rock Baptist Church Youth Department.
