Obituary for Raymond M. May
On Monday, May 26, 2008 at McGuire Veterans Hospital, God’s will was done and RAYMOND MCNARY MAY was called to eternal rest. He was born the seventh child of Arthur May, Sr. and Elizabeth Jackson May on June 5, 1928.
Raymond spent his early adult life in Lunenburg County where he met and married Rebecca McDougall. To this union, two daughters, Phyllis and Emma were born, Emma preceded him in death.
On April 2, 1953 Raymond was inducted into the United States Army. He served in the 47th Infantry Regiment of the 9th Division in Germany until receiving an Honorable Discharge on March 23, 1955. After his discharge, Raymond became employed by Verona Paving Corporation in New Jersey and was a dedicated employee until his retirement.
He leaves to mourn his beautiful memories: one daughter, Phyllis, one granddaughter, Ericka of New Jersey; two sisters, Vincent and Nancy (Wilbur), one brother, Rayshaw, all of Kenbridge, VA; one great uncle, Jammie of Washington, DC; one great aunt, Hattie of Richmond, VA; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends; among them a special friend, Ms. Pat Sweat of Montclair, NJ.
Funeral Services on Friday, May 30, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at Rosebud Baptist Church, Dundas with interment in the church cemetery.
W.E. Hawkes & Son Funeral Home of Blackstone was in charge of the arrangements.
