Obituary for Raymond James Reed
Raymond James Reed entered eternal rest and peace on Saturday, December 21, 2019 at Chippenham Hospital surrounded by family. He was born in Amelia County, Virginia on July 30, 1953 to the late Deacon Paul Reed & Deaconess Elizabeth McGhee Reed.
He was educated in Amelia County Public Schools and at an early age he joined the Little Bethel Baptist Church and was a member for many years. He later joined the Rising Mt Zion Baptist Church in Richmond, Va., under Christian experience.
Raymond was employed with Stamie E. Lyttle for over 25 years. He was a diligent worker and worked until his health began to fail. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, yard work and working on cars.
On August 16, 2008, he joined Lindale Jackson in holy matrimony. God saw fit to cross their paths and making them one. They were married 11 blessed years.
Raymond was preceded in death by his parents, Paul & Lizzie Reed, grandson Marc Starks, brothers Paul Jr., John Sr., Robert Richard, George Reed and sister Mildred Archer.
Left to cherish Raymond’s precious memories are his loving and devoted wife, Lindale of Richmond, Va., five sons; Robert Royal, Phillip Reed and Mark Reed of Amelia, Jamie Reed (Jessica) and Daryl Reed of Richmond, one daughter; Antoinette “Precious” Archer (Tony) of Amelia, one step-daughter; Ayarda Thomas of Richmond, eleven grandchildren; Travon, Jaquan, Dion, Jalen, Rashan, Anthony, Pria, Preston, Owen, Devin and Xavier; one great-grandson; Carter, two step grandchildren; Zkai Thomas and Kyon King; two brothers; Pat Reed (Doris) and Ben Reed (Jennifer) both of Amelia; two sisters; Mable Archer of Amelia and Alice Pegram of Richmond; mother-in-law, Edith Jefferson of Richmond, two sister-in-laws; Sylvia Goodnight and Joyce Jackson (John) both of Richmond; two brother-in-laws; Dexter Jackson (Sheletta) of Amherst and Earl Jackson (Darlene) of Richmond and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Funeral Services Saturday, December 28, 2019 at 12:00 p.m. at Little Bethel Baptist Church, Amelia. Interment private.
Michael W. Hawkes Funeral Home of Amelia in charge of arrangements.
