A Time to Be Born: Ray Charles Anderson, Jr. was born on March 6, 1958 in Baltimore, MD to Carrie Ward Anderson and Ray Charles Anderson, Sr. He was the oldest of seven children.
A Time to Die: Ray’s call to eternal rest came on Tuesday, morning, October 6, 2020 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Richmond, VA.
A Time to Learn: He was educated in the public schools of Nottoway County.
A Time to Laugh: The joy of Ray’s life was his family, friends and having a good time with lots of entertainment. That was Ray. Some of his favorite sayings were: “let not your heart be troubled”, “right, right, right”, “you behave yourself, you hear?” and “you got to be solid”.
A Time to Commit: Ray was baptized and joined the Union Baptist Church, Crewe, VA on October 26, 2009 under the leadership of Reverend Sarah Coleman.
Ray acquired many nicknames: Bay Boy, Baby Boy, Hammer, Bullet and BB. He was a kind person and showed love to everyone he came in contact with.
He worked at Walmart in Farmville and Blackstone for many years. He was also self employed as one of the best painters in the area.
Ray was predeceased by his brother, Rowland Anderson. He leaves to cherish his memories: the love of his life, Lorita Dodson of Crewe, VA; his sweet loving mother, Carrie Anderson and step-dad, Roscoe Anderson, Sr. of Crewe, VA; his father Ray Charles Anderson, Sr. of Blackstone, VA; three sons, Marvin Eppes (Chanda) of Chester, VA, Charles Oliver of Crewe, VA and Marcus Oliver of Rice, VA; three daughters, Shaquita Price of Blackstone, VA, Vondena Booker of Crewe, VA and Ciara Oliver of Rice, VA; four sisters, Annette Jackson (Bill) of Burkeville, VA, Sharon Oliver of Caroline County, VA, Renee Morgan of Richmond, VA and Gwendolyn Pritchett of Alabama, GA; four brothers, Ronald Anderson (Lois) of Crewe, VA, Vincent Anderson (Mary) of Crewe, VA, Randy Anderson of Richmond, VA and William Stewart of North Carolina; step-brother, Roscoe Anderson, Jr. (Gladys); two step-sisters, Linda West (Walter) and Carolyn Anderson (Andre); two children that he loved as his own, Danieka and Vantwon Dodson; a very devoted friend, Tremaine Gray; a host of grandchildren, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Graveside Services were held Saturday, October 10, 2020 at Anderson Family Cemetery, Crewe.
