Obituary for Rachel Alease Griffin
There is an open gate at the end of the road through which each must go alone. And there is a light we cannot see, our Father claims his own. Beyond the gate our loved one finds happiness and rest. And there is a comfort in the thought that a loving God knows best. RACHEL ALEASE GRIFFIN departed this life on Saturday, November 3, 2007 at Ruxton Convalescent Home, Forest Hill in Richmond, VA after a lengthy stay. She was born March 4, 1926 in Amelia, VA. Rachel joined and was baptized at Union Branch Baptist Church at an early age where she remained a member until her death. Rachel moved to Richmond where she worked until her health began to fail. She was a quiet spirited person, but spoke her mind when necessary. She was a loving and kind hearted sister, aunt, and great aunt. She loved her family dearly and will be missed by those who knew and loved her, including her Ruxton family. Rachel was preceded in death by her parents, Willie and Ida Wingo Griffin; three brothers and five sisters. She leaves to cherish her memory: two sisters, Polly Monroe of Jetersville, VA and Evelyn Finnie of Richmond, VA; one sister-in-law, June Griffin of Richmond, VA; one brother-in-law, George E. Galloway of Reidsville, NC; one aunt-in-law, Delores Wingo of King Queen, VA; and a host of devoted nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins and friends that she loved dearly. Funeral Services will be held Thursday, November 8, 2007 at 11:00 A.m. from Union Branch Baptist Church with interment in the church cemeteryMichael W. Hawkes Funeral Home of Amelia in charge of the arrangements.
