Obituary for Quinton L. Montague, Sr.
Retired USAF Master Sergeant Quinton Leslie Montague Sr. departed this life on Tuesday, December 16, 2014. He was under the care of the Hospice Unit of Richmond Retreat Hospital. He is preceded in death by his parents, Rev. Floyd Montague and Betty Hobson Montague, and a brother Andrew Montague.
He was baptized at an early age and joined Chester Grove Baptist Church. He attended the public schools of Amelia County and graduated from Russell Grove. High School In 1960. Upon graduation he joined the United States Air Force where he served honorably and retired after 23 yrs. During his enlistment he was stationed in Germany, Thailand, Spain, France, Vietnam and the USA. He worked for the United States Postal Service for 25 years before retiring. He was a member of the Capital City Lodge # 107. Quinton was a faithful and active member of the Chester Grove Baptist Church where he served as an Usher, President of the Men’s Ministry and a member of the male chorus until his death.
He leaves to cherish fond memories: his sons, Quinton Jr. and Jeffrey Montague and their Mother Joanne Johnson Montague all of Richmond, Virginia; three grandchildren, Reagan, Olivia and Mia Montague all of Richmond, Virginia.; one Brother; Garland Montague (Carolyn); three sisters-in-law; Della Montague, Annette Graham and Margaret NeSmith; two brothers-in-law; Donald and Vincent Johnson; six aunts, Anne Montague (David) Evelyn Montague, Jessie Robinson (Aaron), Lillian Montague, Alma Montague and Hazel Hobson. Leslie leaves a void in the lives of his three nieces who loved him dearly, Michele Wilson, Crystal Montague-Holland and Chandra Boone. He leaves a family friend Christine Givens; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
The family will visit with friends Sunday, December 21 at the funeral home from 5 to 7 p.m.Â
Funeral Services Monday, December 22, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at Love Covenant Church, 17897 W. Pridesville Road, Amelia with interment to follow in the Virginia Veterans Cemetery, Amelia.
