Obituary for Phyllis C. Jennings
Phyllis Cassandra Jennings was born on August 30, 1963. She was the youngest of five children born to Lee Jennings and the late Lillie Jennings.
Phyllis received her formal education in Nottoway County and graduated from Nottoway High School in 1983. She accepted Christ at an early age and became a member of Union Baptist Church, she later joined the H.L. Jones Gospel Chorus. She worked for Hardee’s, Stackpole, Jenkins Mini Mart and Nottoway County Public School. She later became an officer at Lunenburg Correctional Center and worked continuously for seventeen years. She was very dedicated to her job and missed many family events because of it.
Phyllis had a loving and caring personality, she was the life of the party. She was generous and would give her last to anyone who needed it. Her laughter and jokes will be missed. There are many memories of Phyllis, but none compared to the nicknames she gave her loved ones, such as, Mr. Haney, Highway, Southern Boy, Big Baby, Grandpa, Honey, Phyllis Suga, Doolie, Sallie, Lil Lottie, Peter Boy, Jesus, Doo, Stump, G. Money, Noonie, Frissy and many more! She had a way of making everyone feel special.
Phyllis leaves to cherish her memory: her father Lee Jennings; sister Shirley Oliver (Wesley); brothers Larry (Diane), Ronald (Gwen) and Arnold (Brenda); a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, close friends and her best friend (Sheila) that she loved very much.
Phyllis was called from labor to reward after a great fight against cancer at Henrico Doctor’s Hospital on March 14, 2016.
