Obituary for Pernice "Penny" Yates
On Friday, September 28, 2007 at the Interfaith Hospital in Brooklyn, NY, God in his infinite wisdom and desire called home our beloved sister, niece and cousin, Pernice (Penny) Yates and granted her peace and serenity. She was born August 12, 1932 in Nottoway County to the late Louise Yates. Penny lived in Brooklyn, NY from 1953 until her death. She loved her family and they loved her. Penny was preceded in death by a brother, Hurly Clark, Jr. and two sisters, Vernell Yates and Alice Mae Jefferson; but leaves to cherish her memories: a brother, Carlton (Sarah) Clark of Wilson, VA; sisters: Lillie Mae (Robert) Edmonds of Blackstone, VA, and Adell Goodson of Richmond, VA; one uncle, Alfred Yates (Paycheck) of Brooklyn, NY and a host of first cousins: Rozelia (Herbert) Hardy and family; Lucille Campbell and family; Nick and family of Maryland; Ethel Roy; James and Elise Yates and family of Maryland; Rudy and Stephanie Yates of Washington, DC; Virgie Yates and family; Lewis Yates, Jr. and family; Thomas (Virgie) Yates and family; and a host of other family members and friends; two devoted friends of Brooklyn, NY, Pearline Hawkins and Margin Stamile; two devoted cousins, Richard (Glenda) Yates and Delphine Yates. Funeral Services will be held Saturday, October 6, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. from W.E. Hawkes & Son Funeral Home Chapel, Blackstone with interment in the Cellar Creek Baptist Church Cemetery, Blackstone.W.E. Hawkes & Son Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.
