Percy Leroy Akers of Blackstone, Virginia took his wings and departed this life on Friday, July 28, 2017.
He was born on May 6, 1931 to the late Arthur and Addie Akers. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Robert Akers, Calvin Akers and James Akers; one sister, Ethel Holmes; the love of his life, Elsie Peace; and one grandson Orlando Peace.
Percy is survived by three devoted children, Willie Peace, Julia Booker and Joyce Peace; four grandchildren, Priscillia Booker, Darlene Hinton (Lance), Jonathan Booker (Laura) and Derrick Peace; nine great grandchildren; three great- great grandchildren; a host of devoted nieces and nephews, among them a devoted niece and caregiver Patricia Clark and nephew Wallace Akers; a devoted sister-in-law, Margie Akers; three loyal friends, Stefan Mayfield, Willie Brown and Geraldine Jones.
Funeral Service Wednesday, August 2, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. at W.E. Hawkes & Son Funeral Home, Blackstone. Interment Greenview Cemetery, Blackstone.
