Obituary for Pauline S. Bradshaw
Very quietly and peacefully on Sunday, Sept 26, 2010 at Virginia Baptist Hospital in Lynchburg, VA, Mrs. Pauline Sanford Bradshaw made the transition from earthly life to life everlasting surrounded by her family.  Pauline was born to the late Pattie and Claiborne Sanford on April 19, 1927 in Lunenburg County, Virginia and attended Lunenburg County Schools where she received her education.  She was baptized at an early age, excepting Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior and became a member of St. Matthews Baptist Church in Kenbridge, Virginia.  She later joined Eleven Oaks Baptist church sometime after marriage, where she was an active member of the Deaconess, Pastor's Aide and Missionary Ministries, as well as a member of the Senior and Mass choirs.  For years she was the Pianist for Eleven Oaks Baptist Church and many other churches in Nottoway and surrounding counties.  She sang with the Echoneers and the Voices of Praise gospel groups. Pauline was employed at the Amelia Garment Factory for over 20 years.
She was preceded in death by three brothers: Scottie, William, and Royal and four sisters: Mary, Sallie, Bertha, and Ella Bell.  Surviving siblings include her sisters: Eleanor Johnson (George) and  Lonell Maddux, both of Kenbridge, Virginia; Sister-in-laws: Laura Sanford, Kenbridge, Virginia; Etta Jefferson, Crewe, Virginia; Lula Lewis (Griffin), Randallstown, Maryland and Minister Mary Alice Hughes, Richmond, Virginia.
She leaves to cherish her precious memories, her husband of 60 years, Dorsey C. Bradshaw, Sr. of Crewe, Virginia; two children: Stephanie B. Luck (Bedford) and Dorsey C. Bradshaw, Jr. (Barbara) both of Forest, Virginia; four grandchildren: Aisha L. Bradshaw, Lynchburg, VA; Detric L. Sinclair (Derrick), Oxon Hill, Maryland; Venita L. Bradshaw, Lynchburg, VA; and Tinnelle T. Luck, Canton, Ohio; five great-grandchildren: Darrius J. Bradshaw, Nyria D. Barham, Amaya E. Sinclair, Micah J. Sinclair, and Pariss D. Goode and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and close friends.
Pauline was a mother to many; she took special pride in nurturing and raising children as if they were her very own.  She made it her purpose in life to make her home a safe haven for all.
She will be greatly missed.
