Obituary for Paul C. Sims
On the evening of Wednesday, March 27, 2013, our loving and all-knowing God called his servant, Paul Cornell Sims, from labor to eternal rest. Paul was born on September 22, 1952 to Dorothy Ceil Eanes and the late Paul Sims in Rice, VA. He was educated in the Prince Edward County School system. At an early age, he confessed Christ, was baptized and joined the High Bridge Baptist Church in Rice. On August 14, 1976, he married Ruby Hicks, from this union a son, Paul LeVar, was born. He absolutely adored LeVar.
    At the age of 18, Paul became employed by the Craddock-Terry Shoe Company in Farmville, VA. He remained there for many years, working in various capacities. He became supervisor of his department in November of 1989, a position he held until the company closed in December of 1996. On March 30, 1997 he began working at The Amelia Lumber Company in Amelia, VA. At the time of his death, he was a loader/machine operator, where he served faithfully for 16 years. He was much loved by his employers, office staff, and co-workers, and he loved each of them as well.
     Paul’s favorite pastimes were fishing and spending time with his family and friends. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
     He is survived by his loving wife of 36 years, Ruby; devoted son, LeVar (Shantelle Foster); loving mother Dorothy Eanes; brother, Steve (Darlene) Palmer; grandmother, Lula Mae Palmer; great aunt, Elizabeth Miller; granddaughter, SaNiya Sims; brothers-in-law, Earl (Floria) Hicks; William Hicks, and Willie Hicks; sisters-in-law, Martha (Gerald) Bland, Elsie (Mack) Robinson, Rosa Hicks, Mae (Arthur) Miller and Gertrude Hicks; adopted granddaughter, Shavera Foster; devoted friends, Aubrey Holman and Charles Ray; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Funeral Services Tuesday, April 2, 2013 at 12:00 noon at Gravel Hill Baptist Church, Jetersville with interment in the Craft Family Cemetery, Burkeville.
