Obituary for Pattie D. Friend
On the morning of March 9, 2016, Pattie passed away peacefully at Southside Regional Medical Hospital, Petersburg, VA. She was born September 10, 1940 to Reverend John Turner and Daisy Sawyer Hill in Tyrrell County, NC. During her early years, she attended and received her education in Tyrrell County, NC public school system.
 She accepted Christ at an early age and joined Zion Grove Church of Christ, Disciples of Christ. She later joined Mount Level Baptist Church when she moved to Virginia. She was an active member in the church, where she was in the Choir and the Missionary Ministry until her illness. One of her favorite things to do was attend her Jolly Sunshine Group and Fellowship on Tuesdays.
 She was a loving and caring person to her family and anyone that she may have come across and would greet you with her warm smile. She loved cooking for her family and made sure she had plenty to eat for everyone.
 Pattie was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers John-Lawrence, Leonard and William Hill; three nieces; and five sisters-in-law.
 Pattie leaves to cherish her memories: her husband Charles W. Friend; children Agnes Woodley of Ford, VA, Chandra (Ronnie Sr.) Henley, Charles H. Friend both of Amelia, VA, Sarah (Michael I) Dash of Chesterfield, VA and Angela (Jason) Sheffey of Maryland; adopted daughter Rochel (Berl Sr.) of Chesterfield, VA; son-in-law, Thomas Woodley Jr. of Blackstone, VA; grandchildren Devona and Devina Woodley (Freddie Harrison), Ronnie Jr. and Shaquan Henley, Michaela and Michael Dash II, Corey Frier-Ritsh and Courtney Hall of Maryland; adopted grandchildren Brenton and Byson Robertson; great grandchildren Amari Henley and Ayriana King-Henley; sisters Hattie McCless, Nettie Dyers, Virginia Hill all of Columbia, NC, JoAnn (Robert) Debnam of Portsmouth, VA; brother Billie Ray Hill of Columbia, NC; sisters-in-law Sallie (Freddie) Thompson and Celeste Friend of Amelia, VA; host of nieces, nephews and cousins; special devoted friends, Willie Mae Bailey, Catherine Howard, Marion Friend and the Jolly Sunshine Group.
Funeral Service for Mrs. Pattie D. Friend will be held Sunday, March 20, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at Mt. Level Baptist Church, Amelia with interment to follow in the church cemetery.
