Obituary for Patricia Ann Hawkes
Patricia Ann Hawkes age 64 departed this life on May 27, 2016 in her home in Blackstone surrounded by her Family.
 Patricia was born May 6, 1952 to the late George Finger Hawkes and Martha Green. She attended A.G. Richardson and graduated from Luther H. Foster High School in Blackstone, VA., and later attended and graduated from nursing school.
 Patricia worked for Heritage Hall Nursing Home for 30 years and Home Aid for 10 years in Blackstone, VA. Patricia was dedicated to caring for others.
 Patricia was baptized and joined the Pentecost Church of God in Christ in Blackstone, VA where she remained a faithful member until departing this life.
 Patricia enjoyed family moments and would capture memories with creative photos. Cooking was our Mother’s specialty, she baked our favorite dishes with love. Her sweet potato pies were a favorite.
 Patricia was active with her Bible Courses even as her health began to fail. Patricia would complete her Bible Lessons and send them via the mail. Patricia also loved playing cards with her Family. Patricia, her sister Jacqueline, brother-in-law Junior, grandson Raekwon, Little Willie and Corine, enjoyed these cherished memories.  She also enjoyed writing poems for family and friends.  Patricia was a dedicated Mother, Sister, Grandmother, Neighbor, Aunt and Friend.
 Patricia was preceded in death by her parents; one sister Bernice and three brothers, George Jr., Jerry and Milton.  She leaves to cherish her loving memory: five sons, Willie Alvin Lawson, Jr. (Dene); Milton Randolph Lawson (Lakeisha); Linwood Edward Lawson (Angela); Michael Hawkes of Charlotte North Carolina; and Draper Hawkes; two daughters, Angela Michelle Hawkes (Cedric Haskins) and Vernette Ann Lawson (Melvin Walker) of Blackstone, VA; thirteen grandchildren, Kiam White of Dinwiddie and Ketoria Gregory of Richmond, VA; Willie Lawson, III, Shamori Blackwell of NC, JaJuan Lawson, Titiyanna Lawson, Lin-Ayjiah Lawson, LaDarius Lawson, Linwood Lawson, Jr., Raekwon Lawson, Isaiah Michael Hawkes of Charlotte NC, Deona Dowtin and Ty-Quandale Jackson of NC; two loving sisters, Jacqueline Boswell (Junior Epps) of Blackstone, VA and Mildred Elaine Harris (Prince Edward Harris) of Chesterfield, VA; one loving brother, Henry Lee Smith of Blackstone, VA; three loving nieces, Pauline Gilbert (Daryl) of Petersburg, VA, Yvette Bembry (Troy) of Chesterfield, VA and Vernette Hill (Corey) of Chesterfield, VA; two loving nephews, Antoine Harris (Jackie) of Richmond, VA and Michael Hawkes of Richmond, VA; two loving uncles, James Green and Deacon Waymond Mitchell of Blackstone, VA; two loving aunts: Lillie Craig and Leola Pritchett of Richmond, VA.  Patricia cherished her friends and held them dear to her heart; Mary Webb of Blackstone, VA, Tamika Singleton of Blackstone, VA,  Odessa Marshall of Richmond, VA, Constance Waller of Blackstone, VA and Mary Maddox of Blackstone, VA.
Funeral Services Thursday, June 2, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. at Pentecost Church of God in Christ, Blackstone with interment to follow in the church cemetery, Victoria.
