Patricia attended school in Nottoway County and graduated from Nottoway High School in 1972. She continued her education and graduated from Petersburg General Hospital School of Nursing in 1976.
Patricia was a member of New Bethel Baptist Church in Crewe, VA. She served on the Usher Board until she moved out of the area.
Patricia married Samuel Hardy on December 17, 1976.
Patricia worked as a Registered Nurse at Coliseum Park Nursing Home in Hampton, VA for five years. She has worked at many health facilities in Virginia, Georgia and Guam, traveling as a military wife.
Patricia enjoyed cooking, sewing, shopping, gardening, spending time with family, and she was a big fan of “Law & Order” television show.
Patricia is survived by her husband of thirty-five years, Samuel Hardy of Hampton, VA; one son Samuel L. Hardy, Jr. of Hampton, VA and his friend Monique Thomas; one daughter Latoyia D. Hardy Simpson and her spouse Derrick Simpson of Newport News, VA; three grandchildren, Nariah, Xena and Peyton Simpson; her parents, Samuel and Bessie Fitzgerald; brothers, Samuel Fitzgerald Jr. and Henry Fitzgerald; mother-in-law Naomi Hardy; sisters-in-law, Maria Fitzgerald, Bernice Fitzgerald, Barbara Hardy and Gwen Hardy; brothers-in-law, James, Chris and Thomas Hardy; other relatives and friends.
Funeral Services Saturday, January 7, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. at New Bethel Baptist Church, Crewe with private burial.
In lieu of flowers, make contributions to the American Cancer Society.
