Obituary for Odell Roosevelt Burch
Odell Roosevelt Burch departed this earthly realm and moved to his heavenly home on October 30, 2019 at Sitter and Barfoot Veterans Care Center, Richmond, VA. Son of the late Charlie and Etta Elizabeth Burch, he was born October 28, 1928 in Marion, SC.

Odell attended Marion County Schools. He was a member of St. James AME Church, Marion, SC.

Odell served in the United States Army from October 14, 1952 to September 22,1954. He received an Honorable Discharge on October 31, 1960. Upon his discharge from the military, he met and married his wife Nettie Williams, to this union, three children were born, Brenda, Christopher and Milton.

Odell was employed and retired from The John Marshall Hotel as a certified baker. He loved to bake and continued to bake from home after retirement for many neighbors, friends and especially his family. Family members looked forward to getting Odell’s sweet treats anytime he visited them at their homes. Especially his chocolate chip and oatmeal cookies, assortment of cakes, pies, and fruit cakes during the holidays. Many have been the recipient of his beautiful wedding cakes in which he created, delivered and set up himself, near and far. Odell also was an avid checker player and he loved to travel.

In addition to his father and mother, Odell was preceded in death by wife, Nettie Mae Burch; brothers, William Burch (Lushi Mae), Edward Burch (Marie), Earl T. Burch (Alexzena); sisters, Hazel Burch Crawford (Richard), Gerona Burch Leonard (Zinnamon), Thomasina Burch Leonard (Romeo); and one granddaughter, Michelle LaWanda Russell.

Odell leaves to cherish his memory three children: Brenda Bagley (Dennis), Christopher, and Milton Burch (LaWanda), one grandson, Dominique Burch; one great granddaughter Kailee, two sisters, Anna Marian Rias of Raleigh, N.C. and Atha Lee Burch of South Carolina; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral Services Saturday, November 9, 2019 at 12 noon at Beulah Baptist Church, 21209 Hull St. Rd., Moseley, VA. Interment Virginia Veterans Cemetery, Amelia.
