Odell Freddie Hughes “Dark Cloud” 72 of Kent’s Store, VA departed this life on December 19, 2012 at his residence in Palmyra, VA. Odell, son of the late Mabel Hughes was born July 9, 1941 in Fluvanna County.
Odell attended Fluvanna County High School. At an early age he joined Byrd Grove Baptist Church.
Odell worked at various lumber yards and had a passion for working on power saws. His humor, jokes, and sitting on his front porch waving at “all” is what his family and friends will remember the most..
Odell was preceded in death by his wife Jeanette Bruce Hughes; daughter Lisa Hughes; brother Dan Hughes; and sisters, Ann and Sarah Hughes.
Odell leaves to cherish his memories: one sister Laverne Bruce of Fluvanna County; two sons, Alvin Bruce of Charlottesville, VA and Linwood Hughes of Washington, DC; four daughters, Tammy and Margie Hughes of Charlottesville, VA, Amy Hughes of Baltimore, MD and Racheal Hughes Key (Nathaniel Key) of Charlottesville, VA; thirteen grandchildren, Latasha, Latoya “pam pam”, Rachelle, Nathaniel, Kimora, Jasmine, Kadisha, Kenasia, Tyleak, Lyndon, Dylan, Jada and Tamya; three great grandchildren; one niece Audrey Hughes of Kent’s Store, VA; nephews, Danny, Troy and Norman of Charlottesville, VA and a host of extended family and friends.
Funeral Services Saturday, December 27, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. at Bryd Grove Baptist Church, Kent Store, VA with interment in the Bruce Family Cemetery, Kent Store, VA.
