Norris Edward Wainwright (Dickie Reed) departed this life on April 11, 2024 at VCU Community Memorial Hospital in South Hill, VA. He was born in Nottoway County to Mary F. Wainwright and Harless Wainwright Sr.
Norris was educated in the Nottoway County School System.
Norris was joined in Holy Matrimony to Diane Marshall of Amelia County and to this union one daughter was born.
Norris was baptized at New Prospect Baptist Church in Blackstone, VA on September 15, 2019 where he attended until his health started to fail.
Norris was employed at Piedmont Geriatric Hospital, Craddock & Terry and Velvet Textile. He loved to play cards and hang out with his friends.
Norris was preceded in death by his father, Harless and mother Mary; his daughter, Kimberly; step-father, Allen Hardy Jr.; brothers, Harless Wainwright, Jr., Harry Johnson and Melvin Wainwright.
Norris leaves to cherish fond memories: his wife Diane; two sons, John Epes of Blackstone, VA and Norris Alexander of Richmond, VA; daughter, Kierra Butler (Jeremy) of Tennessee; a loving and devoted sister, Patricia Hardy of Crewe, VA; a devoted nephew, Harless Lewis of Atlanta, GA; a dear friend, Elroy Hicks of Blackstone, VA; his step-children, Angelique and Keiona Creel of Tennessee, Cordelia Marshall of Chesterfield, VA, Crystal Alexander of Kenbridge, VA, Angie Lawson (Linwood) of Blackstone, VA; sisters-in-law, Jeannette Anderson of Amelia, VA, Ella Johnson of Burkeville, VA and Charlotte Wainwright of Petersburg, VA; brothers-in-law, James Marshall of Prince Edward County, Roy Marshall of Burkeville, VA and Jennings Marshall of Greenbay, VA; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
